Happy Father's Day from all of us at Kenny Ross

Father’s Day is coming soon – this year, it’s on Sunday, June 19th. First celebrated in West Virginia in 1908, Father’s Day wasn’t made a permanent national holiday until President Richard Nixon signed it into law in 1972.

We want to take this opportunity to recognize all of you dads out there on this special day that celebrates fatherhood and the special bond between a father and his children. Gift-giving is a time-honored way of celebrating this holiday, but there are also other ways of making Father’s Day this year something to be remembered for years to come.

Here are some of our suggestions for things you can do to make your dad feel loved and appreciated this coming Sunday:

• Get outside and enjoy the outdoors – hiking, fishing, or camping is a great way to help your dad unwind and relax.
• Take your dad to a watch his favorite sport, whether it’s football, basketball, soccer or something else.
• Gather the family and plan a picnic at a park, or even just in the backyard. You can include his favorite foods and games.
• Ask your dad to tell you stories of things he did when he was young – it’s a great chance to bond and will leave you with memories that last a lifetime.
• Have your dad teach you a skill that he’s good at. He’ll appreciate the chance to pass on his interests, and you might discover a new hobby.
• Create a photo album or scrapbook with photos and clippings of your favorite memories with your father.

Whatever you end up doing this weekend, all of us at Kenny Ross wish you a very happy Father’s Day this weekend and hope that it’s filled with fun and festivities.
